The pass is located 25 km from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky between two active volcanoes – Avachinsky (2741 m) and Koryaksky (3456 m). Easy trekking at the foot of volcanoes. Lunch on the route and return to the cars.
Return to the hotel. Dinner.
Breakfast. Transfer to the port.
Checking-in on the catamaran, going to the first dive point, the famous spot “Three Brothers” at the exit of Avacha Bay. It is the second largest bay in the world, which cuts into the coast for 24 km and a depth of 26 m.
The features of this spot are a strong current, often poor visibility and a thermal wedge, but it still remains a favorite place among local divers. The bottom is cut with canyons, full of colors and liveliness: sea anemones, sea urchin, crabs, octopuses.
Going to the ocean, full of life and strength. The transition will take about 4-5 hours, it’s high time to carefully examine the rugged coast of Kamchatka and the fauna around.
From this moment, it’s highly possible to meet killer whales/orcas, and even humpback whales. They come here following plankton for feeding, therefore there are no exact dates of meeting them. The ocean is rich in food for birds. Red-billed puffins, gulls, cormorants and dozens, maybe hundreds of other representatives of avifauna are cut through and dive underwater for prey.
Overnight on the catamaran in Russkaya Bay.
Plan of the day is diving with sea lions.
At the exit of Russkaya Bay Kekurny Cape is scattered with wide stone strata. It is a favorite place for year-round lying of sea lions,
We will quietly come to them in an inflatable boat not to disturb the young animals much.
Both adult and young sea lions that are inactive and slow on the land, become very frisky in the water.
This is the very rare case when you don’t need to chase an object of interest. It takes about 15-20 minutes and they will get comfortable and their curiosity will take up. Bre attentive, the boundaries of their personal space are erased faster than the oxygen ends in your tanks.
Overnight on the catamaran in Russkaya Bay.
Early start. We return to the city, but first of all another interesting spot is Starichkov Island. it is the maternity hospital of the Pacific gull. It’s okay if there was no storm on the eve, then the bright yellow, orange and red colors in the underwater landscape will please the eye. At a depth of about 20 meters the underwater world of large sea anemones opens, the largest of which reach a half-meter height. Spider crab colonies are often found here. Lunch. Return to the city. Check in and dinner.
Breakfast. Early off-road trip to the Mutnovsky volcano, the road takes 3 hours of spectacular journey. Climbing the crater of an active volcano is considered to be not difficult and allows you to come close to soaring fumaroles, boiling cauldrons, we will see a crater lake.
