A sea voyage on a sailing catamaran, kayaking and climbing a volcano
Tour: 9 days
Kayaking
Climbing a volcano
Sea sailing trip
Feel at one with the nature of Kamchatka and feel its force, watching wild animals of the peninsula. A nine-day holiday with like-minded people under the attentive supervision of a professional team of guides is awaiting you. On this trip you will get to know Kamchatka: inspect Russkaya Bay, watch sea lions and curious pusas (earless seals) in their natural habitat, and if we are lucky we will also catch sight of orcas and even whales; you will see the spawning grounds of Lake Nachinskoye, the main inhabitant of the peninsula – brown bear, paddle on kayaks across the picturesque Lake Tolmacheva and climb active Mutnovsky Volcano.
Arrival, meeting at the airport, transfer to the guest house with a stop at the “Russia starts here” monument. After check-in, you will have lunch and rest after the flight. A tour briefing is scheduled at the dinner on the day of arrival.
Day 2
Cruise to Russkaya Bay
After breakfast at the guest house, we will drive to the seaport, check-in on the “Kosatka” sailing catamaran, where you will meet the crew. We will then have a 6-hour cruise to Russkaya Bay. Keep your eyes open, you might catch sight of orcas and whales! By the evening we will enter the waters of Russkaya Bay, approximately 8 km long. Here the catamaran will dock by the ship called “Uda”. We will have lunch and dinner on board the catamaran.
Day 3
Kayaking
Morning in Russkaya Bay will start with breakfast, after which a sea kayaking experience is awaiting you. Our guides will explain the basics to ensure safety on water. If you are lucky, you will see spotted seals, that starting June rest in the shallows in the bay. After lunch on board the catamaran, we will sail to Cape Kekurny to see its famous year-round sea lion rookery and will then head back towards the city. Dinner and overnight in the city at the guest house
Day 4
Visiting Lake Nachikinskoye
After breakfast at the guest house, we will leave for glacial Lake Nachikinskoye. Many rivers and streams flowing into the lake have turned it into a major salmon spawning ground, and naturally a place of attraction for brown bears. The journey will take approximately 2.5 hours. We will sail on the lake, watching the spawning of fish and hunting of bears. We will then have lunch at the base camp on the shore and return to the guest house.
Day 5
Drive to Lake Tolmacheva, kayaking
After breakfast at the guest house, we will have a 3-hour drive to Lake Tolmacheva, past berry fields, where there is a chance to spot bears coming here to feast on blueberries and lingonberries. At the lake, we will stay in cosy houses and have lunch. We will then kayak on the lake and enjoy a most beautiful sunset, weather permitting, directly from the water. We will have dinner and overnight at the base camp on the lake.
Day 6
Sailing on the lake and return to the city
After breakfast, we will cross Lake Tolmacheva on a small inflatable sailing catamaran to its wild coast, frequented by bears. Not far from the lake there are two explosion craters, called “maars” by geologists. After lunch we will visit one of the maars, encircling the Medvezhya Chasha (Bear’s bowl) lake (shaped as a bowl, thus the name), approximately 100 m deep. We will then return to the guest house in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky to enjoy a delicious dinner.
Day 7
4x4 drive to Mutnovsky Volcano
After breakfast at the guest house, we will leave by 4x4 vehicle towards Mutnovsky Volcano. After a tour briefing at the foothills of the volcano, we will start the climb to the crater. It will be an easy climb along a well-trodden path, past snowfields before the first fumarole site. Climbing up, you can come close to the steaming fumaroles, boiling mud pots and see the crater lake, which in summer turns emerald green. We will climb up to the edge of an active crater to watch rumbling clouds of steam and gas escaping up into the air. After the descent and a warm snack at the foothills of the volcano, we will head to the guest house.

I booked a tour with the guys from the Kamchatka Freeride Community “Mountains and Ocean 2.0”, two nights in a tent, a night on the Kosatka catamaran, the rest in the city in the Bay House and Granin House. Everything about the tour itself is impeccable – nature, team, travel, accommodation, food. There are nuances in communications with managers directly, but I believe that this will be corrected soon. The tour included two free days, I flew to the Valley of Geysers (it’s not even Mars, it’s Jupiter) and surfed in the ocean with Snowave Kamchatka. Managers, there are many of them, will help with the organisation of additional activities. However, after 9 days, I no longer knew if I could have handled even more beauty the first time, but if you are strong and self-confident, it’s worth going for 12-14 days. Also, the weather is extremely changeable and it is good to have a margin of time. I don’t know if words are needed and possible to describe how fantastic Kamchatka is, unlike any other place. It seems impossible not to return here.
I joined the adventure “Ocean and Mountains 2.0” tour with the @kamchatka_freeride_community. The organisation was simply the BEST, the tour was super diverse and rich. We saw the beauty both from the water and from the volcanoes. The price includes accommodation / meals / all activities according to the programme / transfers and emotional support during all trips.

With Moscow +9 hours (if it is 12:00 in Moscow, it is 21:00 in Kamchatka).
What is the best way to buy airplane tickets to join a tour?
When buying airplane tickets, it is important to consider the time difference between the point of departure and Kamchatka. For example, if your tour starts on 01 April, it means that you need to be in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky on 01 April. And it means that you need to depart from Moscow, Novosibirsk or Irkutsk on 31 March. From Vladivostok, Khabarovsk, Sakhalin or Blagoveshchensk, you can depart on the same date, provided there is a convenient flight. You can arrive at any hour of the day or night of your tour start date, or earlier. Next-day (after the start date) arrival is not permitted, irrespective of the tour programme. Depending on the weather, the tour schedule may change and you risk missing the start of the tour, which is not refundable. The last date of the tour is the return flight date. You may fly back on this date or any time after. If returning to Moscow, you will land on the same date you departed from Kamchatka. The same applies to other cities in Russia, with a difference of one hour.
What are my additional expenses when in Kamchatka?
Your additional expenses may be alcohol, lunch on a free day, caviar, fish you may buy on the market for yourself or as a souvenir. You will also most likely want to buy presents for yourself and family and friends.

Yes, we always require a medical insurance for all our tours.
A complete travel insurance with extreme sports coverage – for hiking up to 2,500 m, yachting, kayaking / surfing.
Different insurance companies have different policy options and you may be required to pay for an additional winter / extreme sports add-on.
